I work at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), the largest community college in Pennsylvania. This semester, we started a PEP that offers a liberal arts degree inside Camp Hill State Prison, which is in our service area. All degrees at our institution require students to take a First-Year Seminar (FYS) course. Our current courses do not meet the needs (and also may not be appropriate- respecting the experiences of our incarcerated scholars). I am wondering if any college currently offers a FYS for this population of students.
Thank you.

I believe that Jackson College in Michigan has a FYE class in their PEP. Their coordinator is Lynn Wood:

We don't require a FYE/FYS, but we do distribute the Open Stax "College Success" book at our orientations and plan on developing a series of non-credit seminars around the relevant content.

Hi Connie. We do as part of the TREC Partnership here in Minnesota. We are also building a "bridge" program for incoming first-year students.
We'd be happy to talk/share resources/etc.
Warmly,
Travis

Connie,
I may be too late to be helpful, but I work for TN Higher Education Initiative (THEI). We have created a robust set of institution-neutral, college navigation resources that might be helpful. Navigating Forward can be found here: https://www.thei.org/resources/navigating-forward
Hope this helps! LR
