The Resource Community for Higher Education in Prison (RCHEP) was launched in November 2023 by the Alliance for Higher Education in Prison (the Alliance) with the support of the American Institutes of Research (AIR). We wanted to establish a reliable and accessible space for problem solving, community building, and collaboration among higher education in prison practitioners, students, advocates, and community members.
Since its foundation in 2014, the Alliance has collected and disseminated resources, information, and knowledge for the field. Strategic partners have been key in this work. However, as the field of higher education in prison expands, we recognize the need to adapt to the changing needs of the field. We hope RCHEP will serve as a space in which the higher education in prison community can identify and address problems collaboratively.
